As a strength and conditioning coach, Shaakira Hassell’00 has endured sexism and racism to follow her passion. That determination has led to a stint leading the U.S. Coast Guard Academy strength and conditioning program, training work with military special forces, and a 2018 fellowship with the NFL’s Carolina Panthers.

It’s not every day that Fortune magazine interviews a Beloiter about their summer experience at MIT, let alone before they even graduate. But that’s just one day in a year of exciting developments for Ericka Corral’22.

Nate Johnson’22 ran cross-country and played baseball when he began college. When he transferred to Beloit to begin his junior year, however, he wanted a new way to participate in sports. At Beloit, he was able to develop the skills he needed to become a sports broadcaster.
