Peer Mentorship Specialist

Pre-Departure Course TA:

  • Attend (and assist with) Preparing to Study Away and Study Abroad Orientation Summit events
  • Send weekly emails (from staff account) to students with reminders about course assignments
  • Monitor and contribute to course discussions
  • Hold weekly office hours to provide drop-in assistance to students working on course projects
  • Support the Instructor in tracking students’ progress, sending assignment reminders and pairing students with mentors
  • Contribute to development of course by researching best practices, identifying new resources, and offering additional feedback
  • Other responsibilities as meets TA needs and interests

Mentorship TA (beginning Fall 2022):

  • Serve as a Mentor, with the assistance of the Associate Director, to a small group of students currently studying abroad/away
  • Implement and develop curricula to support students’ goals, in collaboration with GEO staff
  • Communicate regularly with students, collect assignments/reflections, and provide feedback to students

Re-entry Course TA

  • Support the Instructor in tracking students’ progress, sending assignment reminders and pairing students with mentors
  • Contribute to development of course by researching best practices, identifying new resources, and offering additional feedback
  • Other responsibilities as meets TA needs and interests

Students applying to this must must have participated previously in the study abroad program.
