Understanding and seeking answers to complex issues often requires integrating knowledge and methods drawn from the natural sciences, 社会科学, 艺术, 和人文. Students who design a liberal 艺术 interdisciplinary major should want to study a problem, 问题, 或知识领域使用和整合多学科的方法.

The 跨学科研究 (IDST) program enables 十大菠菜台子 students to explore and address complex issues through inquiry between and beyond disciplinary boundaries. 在这个节目中, students analyze and synthesize information from multiple perspectives and construct new forms of knowledge. 跨学科课程包括课程, 计划的专业, 并自行设计主辅.
The Director of 跨学科研究 supervises the interdisciplinary major and 小 program. Students should identify one or more advisors and prepare a proposal for submission to the IDST Director through the Provost’s office. The Director approves or rejects interdisciplinary major and 小 proposals after their approval by the faculty members consenting to serve as advisors.

Because of the quick turnaround between the release of the schedule of classes and registration, proposed changes can be fast-tracked through the IDST Director under some circumstances.
- Complete a capstone project (usually by taking IDST 390) in the junior and/or senior year. The student must submit evidence of this capstone experience to the Provost’s Office for review by the IDST Director 下课前两周 in the semester that the student intends to graduate (see section VI on graduation).
